Labour market-oriented Danish (Intro Danish) – for new Danish language learners

Copenhagen Language Center offers new courses in Danish for beginners every month. The beginner courses are targeted students in the Danish 1, 2 and 3 programmes.

Danish for beginners at Copenhagen Language Center provides you with general skills in both oral and written Danish to help you in your everyday life.

You will gain an overall understanding of Danish language and culture.

In addition, the course provides an on-the-job vocabulary and gives a general understanding of the Danish work conditions and culture. Thereby, enabling you to perform your job in Denmark to the best of your ability.

The course is divided into five parts of 50 lessons each. You must complete the 250 lessons course within 18 months.

Copenhagen Language Center offers new courses in Danish for beginners every month for students with different backgrounds.

Danish 1, 2 and 3 beginner programme

The language programme is divided into three separate groups:

Danish beginner course 1

is for students with less than 7 years schooling, who need to learn to read and write the Latin alphabet. 

Danish beginner course 2

is for students with a short or medium educational background. You may have completed the 9th grade and vocational training.

Danish beginner course 3

is for students with more than 12 years of schooling. This course is tailored for students who have completed a higher education.

As a new Danish 3 student, you can choose between a wide selection of Danish beginner courses with different intensity and focus:

STUDENTS WITH BETWEEN 8 AND 11 YEARS OF SCHOOLING

Copenhagen Language Center provides a flexible beginner course for Danish 2 students. We offer classes in the morning, afternoon, evening or late evening. The classroom instruction is a varied mix of:

  • class work
  • group work
  • and work in pairs

There will be a high level of activity and discussion some days. Others will provide quiet focus on reading and writing.

Danish beginner course 1

STUDENTS WITH LESS THAN 8 YEARS OF SCHOOLING

The teachers have time to provide individual help and work closely with the students in Danish course 1. 

Copenhagen Language Center provides Danish beginner courses in Danish 1 with both daytime and evening classes. The goal is that you learn Danish at a level that equips you to speak Danish when you need it:

  • to your children
  • the municipality
  • your doctor
  • your neighbours, etc.

When and where?

Our courses in Danish for beginners take place at our schools in Vesterbro, Copenhagen – either at Flæsketorvet, Tøndergade or in Valdemarsgade.

With flexible classes from early morning to late evening, there will definitely be a course available that suits you:

Is labour market-oriented Danish for beginners for me?

Labour market-oriented Danish is the right choice for you, if you have never attended classes at a language school in Denmark and:

  • you or your spouse is a wage earner or self-employed in Denmark, or
  • you are a frontier worker in EU, or
  • you are an international student, or
  • you are an au pair

In addition you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • have a Danish identification number (CPR)
250 Danish lessons and then what?

After a total of 250 lessons of Labour market-oriented Danish, you can continue with one of our Danish courses and complete the course with an exam in Danish.

If you want to continue your Danish language training, you must start another Danish course immediately after the completion of the labour market-oriented Danish lessons.

Normally you can get up to three years of additional Danish classes after you have completed the 250 lessons of labour market Danish.

After 5 x 50 lessons of labour market-oriented Danish, you must complete a test, before you can start additional Danish classes. This way we can ensure that you are placed in the right programme and on the right level.
