The City of Copenhagen has decided not to renew its contract for the provision of Danish courses with Copenhagen’s three current language schools: Copenhagen Language Center, Studieskolen and IA Sprog.
According to the city administrators, none of us could match the new supplier’s price.
As a result, from August 2018 Københavns Sprogcenter will no longer provide Danish lessons under the Danish Education Act , but will continue offering Danish classes as a private Danish language school.
We are naturally very disappointed. But this doesn’t mean that we’ll let you down as a customer, or just give up on our passion. In short, the rumours of our demise are greatly exaggerated – and will hopefully stay that way for a long time to come.

Building bridges between cultures and people
For more than 25 years running, Copenhagen Language Center has been a prominent provider of Danish language courses for foreigners, making a distinctive mark in the field every step of the way and introducing a wide array of teaching materials and educational methods.
Our ultimate aim has always been to build bridges between cultures and people. With our help, thousands have learned Danish and become a part of the Danish community – and we’re damn proud of it!
With or without a city contract, we’ve got all hands on deck to bring you an even better language experience from 1 August 2018.
The dawning of a new era
We’re working fervently to ensure even more flexible and targeted Danish courses as from 1 August 2018.
For you as a customer, this will mean courses in Danish language and culture that weren’t possible under the Act on Danish Language Courses:
- Fewer obstacles – Danish courses without a deposit, voucher scheme or eligibility rules.
- More flexibility – Danish courses to fit your schedule, with an adjustable workload.
- Greater customisation – Options to supplement your Danish studies according to your interests and needs.
As always, we remain committed to providing high quality Danish courses. AND at a price roughly the same as under the Danish Education Act.
