The rumours of our demise are greatly exaggerated
Here at Copenhagen Language Center, we’ve got all hands on deck to meet our goal of bringing you even higher quality Danish courses beginning 1 August 2018.

The City of Copenhagen has decided not to renew its contract for the provision of Danish courses with Copenhagen’s three current language schools: Copenhagen Language Center, Studieskolen and IA Sprog.

According to the city administrators, none of us could match the new supplier’s price.

As a result, from August 2018 Københavns Sprogcenter will no longer provide Danish lessons under the Danish Education Act.

We are naturally very disappointed. But this doesn’t mean that we’ll let you down as a customer or just give up on our passion. In short, the rumours of our demise are greatly exaggerated – and will hopefully stay that way for a long time to come.

Check out our new Danish courses and prices from August 2018

Building bridges between cultures and people

For more than 25 years running, Copenhagen Language Center has been a prominent provider of Danish language courses for foreigners, making a distinctive mark in the field every step of the way and introducing a wide array of teaching materials and educational methods.

Our ultimate aim has always been to build bridges between cultures and people. With our help, thousands have learned Danish and become a part of the Danish community – and we’re damn proud of it!

With or without a city contract, we’ve got all hands on deck to bring you an even better language experience from 1 August 2018.

The dawning of a new era

We’re working fervently to ensure even more flexible and targeted Danish courses as from 1 August 2018.

For you as a customer, this will mean courses in Danish language and culture that weren’t possible under the Act on Danish Language Courses:

  • Fewer obstacles – Danish courses without a deposit, voucher scheme or eligibility rules.
  •  More flexibility – Danish courses to fit your schedule, with an adjustable workload.
  •  Greater customisation – Options to supplement your Danish studies according to your interests and needs.

As always, we remain committed to providing high quality Danish courses. AND at a price roughly the same as under the Danish Education Act.

Wanna know more?

More information about course prices, content and duration will be posted on our blog in the near future.

We look forward to soon sharing our vision for Danish language courses.

Hi. How about au pairs? Are they still free in Danish language? Because host family is the one who paid for the course. Are we still free? Or we need to pay 2k per module? Thank you so much. Hoping for your quick response 😀

Hi Anne, I’m sorry but when it comes to Au pairs, I’m not sure of the rules yet. I know you are exempt from paying deposit due to the money your host families paid. Therefore, you might also be exempt from user payment, but I haven’t been able to confirm this yet. Hopefully your will receive information from your municipality very soon.

I’m sorry I can’t be of any more help.

      Kind regards

      Camilla, Kbh Sprogcenter

    Hi,

I’m pursuing Module 2 in your Sprogcentre- weekend class.
I would like to know what is planned for students like us after June?
We wouldn’t be completing the midle before June.

    Thanks.

    1. Dave

I am in the same position, but in one of the week night classes. When will we be given more information about our options after the summer break. I really like the services provided by the school, but unfortunately I am going to have to look at enrolling at one of the schools that is able to provide the government supported Danish lessons if there isnt some information soon.
      Thanks.

        Hi Anu and Dave,

I’m very sorry for the radio silence from our side. We first had to await approval from our board and then we had to ensure that our new Danish courses would be both high quality and competitive prices.

Marketing finally received information about courses and prices on Friday and we are doing everything we can to present the new courses to you by the end of next week – even working on a Sunday 😉

I hope that you will have heard from us by Friday and that you will be able to continue learning Danish at our language school.

        Kind regards

        Camilla, Kbh Sprogcenter

  • Von Yi Yap

Good day. My name is Von Yi Yap. I would like to enquire about the possibility to learn Danish language at your language center. I am a PhD and MSc degree holder from the University of Copenhagen, but the major challenge to find a job now is the language barrier. I believe that if I were to acquire good Danish language skills (by attending Danish classes) I can be a good tax payer to my municipality (Rødovre kommune). I understand that we have to start paying for attending Danish classes. Thus, I wonder if your language centre is aware by any chance that my kommune or job centre could help with the payment (either for free or at a subsidised rate)? If yes, could you kindly let me know the steps?
Also – if I am interested to sign up for intensive Danish course, may I know how much it costs to complete one module?

Thank you for reading this email. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,
    Von Yi Yap

Hi Von Yi Yap, Thank you for your comment. From 1 July 2018 Danish classes will cost DKK 2,000 pr. module. Unfortunately, as far as I know, there are no subsidies for self-supporting internationals. However, if you are no longer studying and have registered as unemployed, I think Danish classes are free through the municipality.

Good luck with your Danish language studies.

      Kind regards
      Camilla, Kbh Sprogcenter
